Chapter It hurt a lot. But I didn’t understand why. Thalia was telling me that I’m a demigod, that her father is Zeus, Luke’s father is Hermes, then suddenly my head started hurting. But the weird part was: I was seeing something. Myself. I looked a lot older than I was now. Maybe sixteen. I’m not sure. Jasmine was with me, also looking sixteen. It was like I was watching myself on TV, but I have no idea what was going on at all. And we weren’t alone. There was a boy, who also looked sixteen, standing next to me, and a man in front of us that looked to be over twenty years old. The boy had black hair and green eyes, like the sea. For some reason, I felt a little drawn to them. The had curly black and white hair; a helmet with wings sticking out on either side of it, which was weird; and he was holding a staff with two snakes moving on it, also weird. But he looked mad at me. “You should’ve left that subject alone,” he said. I watched myself take a step back. “Sorry?” “SORRY doesn’t cut it! You should’ve save him when you had the chance. Both of you. You’re the only ones who could have.” Ok, I have no idea why this man was mad at me. Or how I was even seeing this. Save who? Even the boy standing next to me didn’t seem to know. “What are you talking about?” he asked. “Annabeth and Jasmine didn’t—” “Don’t defend them!” the man yelled. “They know exactly what I’m talking about.” “Yeah,” Jasmine agreed, moving between me and the man, looking just as mad as he was. “But we couldn’t have saved him. We didn’t trust that he meant what he said. And damn you for blaming us for not believing him.” “Maybe you should blame yourself!” the boy told the man. “Maybe if you hadn’t abandoned him and his mom!” The man raised his staff and began to glow. Jasmine moved between the man and the boy, like she was going to stop him from hurting him. But the glow from him was so bright that I couldn’t see anymore and what I was watching disappeared. My eyes opened, and I was back in my body as a seven-year-old girl. My head didn’t hurt anymore, but what I somehow saw scared me. Who was that man, and why was so mad at me and Jasmine? Who didn’t we save? Who was that boy that defended me against that man? And, more importantly, why and how did I see that? My friends were standing around me. “Annabeth!” Jasmine called. “I’m ok,” I said. “I think.” “You think?” Luke asked. “What happened?” “I don’t know. I saw something weird.” “What did you see?” Thalia asked. I started telling them, but Raylee stopped me. “Hold on,” she said. “How about you show us?” “Show you?” I asked. She nodded. “Yeah.” “How?” “I’ll touch your forehead, and you think about what you saw. Then my powers will copy what you saw and I can make a holographic image out of it for all of us to see. Ok?” “Ok.” She did that and made a floating see-through TV, and everyone saw what I saw: Jasmine and I looking older, with a boy about the same age as us, and a man who was mad at me for not saving someone. “Wow,” Raylee said, looking at Jasmine with a smile on her face. “Looks like someone becomes quite the badass someday.” “Well, it’s not like it isn’t in her blood,” Sarah said. “No.” “Is that bad?” Jasmine asked. “Not to me, it isn’t.” “Raylee, can we focus on the rest of the vision?” Nick asked. “Fine,” she said. Then she looked at me. “Annabeth, what do you think about what you saw?” “I don’t know,” I replied. “It was weird. Why was that man mad at me, and who was he? And that boy?” “I think that was my dad,” Luke said. “The man, I mean. He looked like how I’ve heard him described.” “Why was he mad at me and Annabeth?” Jasmine asked. “He said something about how you two were the only ones that could save him,” Zak said. “Save who?” I asked. “Who’s he?” Thalia and Luke looked at each other, making eye-contact and having a silent agreement. “Raylee, I need to talk to you,” Luke said. “Alone.” “Ok,” she replied. “Can I go with you?” I asked. “No,” Luke replied. “Sorry.” “Ok.” Toothless made a squeak sound. “Toothless wants to go with you, Luke,” Jasmine translated. He nodded. “Ok.” Toothless flew off of Jasmine’s shoulders and onto Luke’s. He’ll let a little dragon go with him but not me? That’s not fair. Luke walked over to Thalia and whispered something in her ear. She nodded. Then Luke, Raylee, Nick, and Toothless went outside. “What did he say to you?” Jasmine asked. Thalia shook her head. “Nothing.” “It didn’t look like nothing.” “It was nothing. Don’t ask again.” Jasmine looked hurt by that, but she nodded. “Ok.” We didn’t talk about what I saw anymore. It’s like everyone forgot about it. But I didn’t. After Luke, Raylee, Nick, and Toothless came back from talking outside, Jasmine’s family said goodbye to us. Kika and Honey went home with them, so it was just me, Jasmine, Toothless, Thalia, and Luke. We stayed at the James River for the whole night, then we moved along Chesapeake Bay for a while, making hideout spots to stay in. I didn’t forget about that vision I had. I kept wondering one thing about it: Who was that boy with the sea green eyes? We all know who he is, don't we? If any of you guys read the prequel for this story, you might have suspected what this chapter was a bit about, as well as a couple other things that are going to happen in the future. I know this didn't happen in the book, but I thought it would be interesting to add to this story. You can probably bet there are many more to come.
